How to Make a Reusable Shopping Bag

 Super Simple Reusable Shopping Bag Instructions



Instructions
You will need:
2/3 yard of fabric
thread
1" wide woven strip 40" long (you will cut this in half for two handles)

Pattern Pieces
There are 5 pieces total. A front and back, 2 sides and a bottom piece.

Cut out
2 pieces 12" wide and 15" tall for your front and back pieces.
2 pieces 6" wide by 15" long for the side pieces.
1 bottom piece 6" wide by 12" long

1. Take the front and bottom pieces and put them together right sides facing each other. Make sure that the front piece pattern is right side up.
sew the two pieces together.

2. Next take the back piece and put it together with the bottom piece right sides facing each other. Keep in mind that the bottom of the pattern should be sewn to the bottom piece.
Sew the back to the bottom.
It should now look like one long rectangle.

3. Match the side piece to the front of the bag with right sides together. Stay mindful of the pattern direction.
Sew them in place.

4. Now take the back piece and fold it up so that it meets the side piece right sides together.
and sew.

5. Sew the bottom of the bag to the bottom side.

6. Repeat steps 3-5 for the other side.

7. Now Fold the top of the bag under 1/4 to 1/2" all the way around. Repeat this step and pin. Sew around the top.

8. For the handle ,cut your woven strip in half. You should have two 20" long pieces.

9. Position the handles on the bag where you want them. Turn the ends under about 1" and pin them in place. Make sure that both sides match.

10. Sew the handles to the bag. Sew the bottom of the handles in a square shape with an X in the middle to ensure that they are securely attached to the bag.
Your bag is complete.
